Until now, AI estimates required an API key of your own. From version 1.1 on, iPhones with Apple Intelligence and iOS 27 can do without: Logify then uses Apple Intelligence. No sign-up with an AI provider, no extra cost. If you haven’t added a key yet, Apple Intelligence is selected automatically.
How it works
Your description and – if you take one – the photo go to Private Cloud Compute, Apple’s servers. There, Apple’s large language model estimates the nutrition. According to Apple, requests are not stored. Profile, weight and health data are not included.
Good to know
- iOS 27 and an iPhone with Apple Intelligence are required: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and later.
- Internet connection: the estimate runs on Apple’s servers, so it doesn’t work offline.
- Daily limit: Apple sets how many requests are possible per day and iCloud account. With iCloud+, the limit is higher. Logify lets you know in time when it’s running low.
See Help for details.
And if my iPhone can’t do that?
Then add your own API key as before, or use the barcode scanner and database search. Food tolerance analysis, fasting, water and statistics work on every device.
Also new: activity in your daily budget
With Apple Health connected, Logify bases your calorie goal on what you actually burned over the last 30 days – so your usual activity is already included. Until now, the day’s active energy was still added on top. From 1.1 on, your daily budget only grows by what you burn beyond your average. Without enough Health data, Logify keeps estimating your burn from your profile and activity level, and then all active energy counts.
Under Settings → Goals → Activity you can also switch the adding off entirely – handy if your watch tends to overestimate.
