Part A – Website

A1. Hosting and server log files

This website (logify-app.de) is hosted by the following provider: Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus (https://www.hostinger.com/legal/privacy-policy).

When you open a page, your browser technically has to send data to the host's server, which stores it in so-called server log files:

  • IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • page or file requested and amount of data transferred
  • referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • browser and operating system used

This data is processed only to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable. It is not combined with other data. How long the log files are kept depends on the host's technical and security requirements; they are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for these purposes. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and error-free operation of the website. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host as part of its terms of service.

A2. No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services. No third-party content is embedded: fonts, images and videos are served from our own web space. Visiting the website therefore does not transfer any data to third parties.

Whether the website appears light or dark follows your device setting. If you choose a theme yourself with the toggle in the header, your browser saves this choice in local storage (localStorage) so it is kept for your next visit. It is not sent to us, and you can remove it at any time with the toggle or by clearing the website data in your browser. The legal basis is Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, as storing it is strictly necessary for the feature you requested.

A3. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to the app, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering requests). We delete messages once they are no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

Our mailbox logify-app@outlook.de is provided by Microsoft (Outlook.com). Microsoft's privacy statement applies: https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement

A4. Links to the App Store and social networks

The website contains plain links to Apple's App Store and, where applicable, to our social media profiles. Only when you click such a link is the respective page loaded and the provider receives data such as your IP address. The respective provider is responsible for processing there. The App Store links contain a campaign parameter (ct=website), which only lets us see aggregated, anonymous download numbers in App Store Connect.

Part B – App

The following sections match the privacy policy in the app. The controller is the person named above (section 1).

2. Principle

Protecting your data matters to us. Logify has no user account and no servers of its own. We never receive the content you record in the app. Data only goes to services you use yourself: your iCloud, Apple Health, optionally an AI provider of your choice, and Open Food Facts when you search. This notice describes which ones.

3. Data within the app

Everything you record in Logify — meals and nutrients, saved meals, fasts, weight, water, symptoms, profile details, goals, and settings — is stored on your device.

  • No user account is required.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, or location data. The first name in your profile is optional and only leaves your device through your iCloud.
  • If you estimate a meal from a photo or add a picture to a saved meal, Logify keeps a reduced copy of that photo with the entry. It is stored on your device and in your iCloud like your other entries; we never receive it.
  • Export and import as a JSON file take place exclusively on your device or at storage locations you choose.
  • "Delete All Data" fully resets Logify on all your devices and in your iCloud.

4. iCloud sync

To keep your data the same on all your devices, Logify syncs it through the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account. The provider is Apple. The data lives in your personal iCloud storage, which only your Apple Account can access — we cannot see it.

You can turn off syncing in iOS Settings under [your name] → iCloud. Your data then stays on the device only.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as syncing is part of the feature you use; for health information, Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR (your consent). Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

5. Apple Health

If you allow it, Logify reads your workouts, steps, active energy, resting energy, and weight, as well as sex, date of birth, and height from Apple Health to fill in your daily budget, your history, and your profile. Logify writes the calories you log, your water intake, and your weight back to Apple Health.

You decide in the Health app which data Logify may read and write, and you can change this at any time. Data from Apple Health is not used for advertising, not sent to AI providers, and not shared with third parties. Values Logify takes over, such as your weight, are stored like your other entries (see 3 and 4).

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time through the Health permissions.

6. AI providers (optional)

Estimating nutrients with AI is optional. From iOS 27 on, Logify uses Apple Intelligence for this on devices that support it (see 6a). Alternatively – and on all other devices – it works with your own API key, which you create yourself with a provider. You can choose from:

When you have the AI estimate a meal, your device sends the meal description and, if you take one, the photo directly to the selected provider. There is no Logify server in between. Profile, weight, and health data are not included. When you add a key, Logify checks with a short test request whether the connection works.

You enter into the contract with the provider yourself; the provider is responsible for processing on its side under its own terms. Depending on the provider, data is processed in the USA. The API key is stored in your device's keychain, is not synced via iCloud, and is not included in the data export.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent by adding the key and sending the request).

6a. Apple Intelligence (optional)

From iOS 27 on, Logify can estimate meals without an API key of your own on devices with Apple Intelligence. To do so, your device sends the meal description and, if you take one, the photo to Private Cloud Compute, Apple's server infrastructure. There, Apple's language model answers the request. According to Apple, the data is used only for that purpose, is not stored, and is not accessible even to Apple; independent experts can verify this. Profile, weight, and health data are not included, and there is no Logify server in between.

Apple sets how many requests are possible per day for each iCloud account. You turn Apple Intelligence on or off in iOS Settings under “Apple Intelligence & Siri”. Apple Intelligence also writes the texts of coach reminders directly on your device. Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/en-ww/

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as the processing is part of the feature you use.

7. Camera, microphone, and speech recognition

Logify only uses the camera when you take a photo of a meal or scan a barcode. Barcodes are recognized on the device.

Logify only uses the microphone when you dictate a meal. Apple's speech recognition converts it into text. Where your device supports it, this happens entirely on the device; otherwise the recording is sent to Apple for recognition. Apple's privacy policy applies. Logify does not store recordings.

You can revoke all three permissions at any time in iOS Settings under Logify.

8. Open Food Facts

The German Federal Food Code (BLS) and the USDA database are included in the app; searching them never leaves your device.

When you search for a product or scan a barcode, Logify also queries the free Open Food Facts database (Open Food Facts, a non-profit association, France). Only the search term or barcode is transmitted, plus your IP address for technical reasons. The Open Food Facts privacy policy applies: https://world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as the query is necessary for the search you started.

9. Apple Watch and widgets

Logify exchanges data between iPhone and Apple Watch directly over the connection between your devices. Widgets read the data on the device. No data is transmitted to us.

10. Notifications

Reminders are scheduled as local notifications directly on your device. No push messages are sent via external servers, and no data is transmitted for this purpose.

11. Apple

Apple is independently responsible for making the app available via the App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Through App Store Connect, we receive only aggregated, anonymized statistics from Apple on downloads and usage. We are unable to draw conclusions about individual persons from this data. Whether your device contributes to these statistics is controlled by you under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

12. No analytics, no advertising

Logify does not use any analytics tools, ad networks, or tracking services. The app does not track you across other apps and therefore does not ask for permission to do so. Your content is never sold to third parties or used for advertising.

13. Storage duration

Your content stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it. When you delete the app, locally stored data is removed; you manage data in your iCloud in iOS Settings under iCloud, and data in Apple Health in the Health app. How long AI providers and Open Food Facts keep requests is governed by their privacy policies.

14. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection under Articles 15–21 GDPR, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Since we never receive your content, you can change, export, or delete it directly in the app. For questions, please contact the address listed above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

15. Changes

This notice will be updated when app features or the services used change. The version published in the app applies at any given time.
